What to Read This Christmas?
+ a small gift 🎁
We are nearly at Christmas, which means we’ve been running this book club for a little over 7 months!
We want to sincerely thank you for being part this and making the sessions as great as they have been. We have an amazing core group of readers now, and the discussions keep getting more and more fruitful.
We’re also delighted to say that we’ve now published 6 podcasts on the Great Books! Definitely catch on up on those here if you haven’t already — Jeremy has been having some excellent conversations with academics and writers.
Some Light Reading
We recently shared some suggested reads for Christmas, but as far as official book club business goes, we will be going for something light.
For the rest of December (before normal meetings resume with “The Everlasting Man” on January 6), we will be reading Tolkien’s “Letters from Father Christmas.”
The book is a collection of Christmas letters that Tolkien wrote to his children, and is meant to be a nice, light read to help get us in the Christmas spirit. Please do read along with us — we’ll be sharing some thoughts on it in the group chat soon.
A Small Gift…
Our mission is to reach as many minds as we can, and to continually expand (and improve) this online resource for the Great Conversation of Western literature — at a time when it is surely needed most.
We are committed to keeping the majority of our content free for all to access. However, if you are in a position to support us, please do consider taking out a paid subscription for a few dollars per month. Our work is 100% reader-supported, and your help will enable us to expand the scope and depth of this project in 2026.
As a little gesture of thanks, we are running one final, 48-hour discount:
33% off the full publication and book club — the cheapest it will ever be!
If you’ve been thinking about supporting us and/or participating in the book club, now is the very best time to do it. As a reminder, paid members get:
All live book discussions and recordings (bi-weekly)
Regular essays to guide you through the books we’re reading
The full archive of articles, essays, and podcasts
Access to our community of readers
Ability to vote on what we read next!
We are about to start reading The Everlasting Man by G.K. Chesterton. The first session is on January 6, at noon ET. See you soon!
